Vision
Global Student Leadership envisions a worldwide network of young,
empowered women and men serving as local leaders and agents of
change, who have the self-confidence, entrepreneurial and enterprise
management skills necessary to help transform their communities
Our Mission
The Global Student Leadership program, a non-profit organization, is
designed to create a broad wellspring of local entrepreneurial leaders
who seek to revitalize villages, communities and economies. These agents
of social and economic change remain virtually connected over time and
space, and expand the reach of the GSL program by mentoring succeeding
generations of young leaders.
The mission of the Global Student Leadership (GSL) program is based on
the concept of “entrepreneurship” which relies on ‘creative destruction’
to create long-run community vitality. It is related less to the more
recent definitions of ‘entrepreneurship’, which emphasize taking of risk
and more to converting new ideas into economic growth or social change.
GSL reaches this goal by conducting a pragmatic six-week training
program for aspiring leaders and entrepreneurs. After receiving a
rigorous evaluation, then providing support for the most promising
business plans.
In the book, Leadership is Global, Peter Drucker proposes, “Every few
hundred years in Western history there occurs a sharp transformation.
Within a few short decades, society – its worldviews, its basic values,
its social and political structures, its art, its key institutions-
rearranges itself. We are currently living through such a time.” In this
time and space, GSL provides a program, a process, and an invitation for
social entrepreneurs and agents of change to successfully navigate this
evolving landscape. The GSL Leadership for Local Change curriculum ™
built on four pillars: leadership, entrepreneurship,
advocacy/communication, and information technology is a well-tested
program, successfully training inspired pragmatists.
